#^Isar Aerospace to Launch R-Space Satellites Under ESA Marketplace ProgramMunich-based launch provider Isar Aerospace has signed a new agreement with start-up R-Space to send two satellites into orbit aboard its Spectrum rocket in 2026. The launches will take place from Norway’s Andøya Spaceport and form part of the European Space Agency’s (ESA) Marketplace initiative, designed to accelerate the growth of Europe’s commercial space sector.
The partnership doesn’t stop there. Additional missions are already planned for 2026 and 2027 in a long-term collaboration between the two companies.
R-Space’s satellites will carry out in-orbit demonstration missions, giving customers the opportunity to validate next-generation space technologies and services directly in orbit.
“As the need for launch capacity continues to surge, Isar Aerospace is committed to enabling nations and industries with scalable space capabilities,” said Stella Guillen, Chief Commercial Officer of Isar Aerospace.
Carsten Scharlemann, R-Space’s CEO and founder, called Isar “the ideal partner” for its mission to provide fast and flexible demonstration services. “Together, we look forward to an exciting partnership and many successful launches in the years ahead.”
ESA officials welcomed the agreement as an example of how the Marketplace program is bringing together Europe’s space ecosystem. Gianluigi Baldesi, Head of ESA Ventures and Financing, said: “Helping two European companies in the face of Isar Aerospace and R-Space scale their business in a joint effort is a testament to the impact we aim to create.”
Isar Aerospace was founded in 2018. The company grew rapidly to more than 400 employees across five sites, attracting American Investment in the business. R-Space focuses on shortening the path from satellite development to orbit, helping customers reach market readiness.
