Meteorologists warn that the next few days will be unusually cold in the UK due to severe Arctic winds that sweep across large parts of the country.
Looks like previous reports of a record-breaking September heatwave are not likely to come true, so it’s time to get autumn coats out. Moreover, the beginning of September this year is cooler than usual, with temperatures averaging 20C, this is -3.6C below the typical seasonal average.

According to Met Office experts, this week will be “unseasonably” cold and windy. Arctic winds will bring plenty of showers across the country, and even a chance of snow on the highest peaks in Scotland. These days temperatures will vary around 13 to 14C – whereas normally at this time of year it would be at least 16 to 18C, or even closer to 20C.

Friday morning is expected to be the coldest it gets this week, as temperatures may drop to around 4 to 6C below average for this time of year. By the weekend the weather will “get back to normal”, milder air from the Atlantic will bring warmer days, reaching a maximum 23C in the middle of next week. Looking further ahead, the Met Office said that there is potential for this September to be warm or even very warm – the temperatures are predicted to rise up to high 20s. So, keep up to date with
the latest forecast and don’t put away your summer wardrobe just yet.
