Since I've just read about Minnie Mouse...
Ever noticed how Disney loved to pair male main characters with what's almost their Rule 63 selves, at least by looks?
Minnie is practically female Mickey, all the way to both being topless at first. Daisy is practically female Donald, all the way to both not wearing much below the waist (although this became common for ducks, especially when Carl Barks took over). This may have been done in order to reduce work on character design, but it also drives the point home that Mortimer and Gladstone won't have a chance in the long run.
Clarice is a bit trickier. She's a little Chip and a little Dale combined in one female chipmunk.
But look at Pete. The Italian comics gave him Trudy Van Tubb as a permanent girlfriend who's Rule 63 Pete all right. She's usually a bit worried about his criminal activites but easily changes her mind if she can profit from them. Now, compare this with
Goof Troop Pete and his famiy. Four different character designs. And Peg probably married him with the very intent to throw a spanner in his shady works whenever she can.
