People in 2026 using Brave because "it blocks ads"
.... sis .... you can get UblockOrigin on any Firefox-based browser. You know Brave is evilware right?

I have my Firefox so locked down with ad blocking stuff that I can't remember the last time I saw an ad. It's literally been years.

I haven’t seen ads on the web since 15 years ago and before that only on websites that I deemed worthy. It’s really not that hard. Privacy Badger, DuckDuckGo, adblockers…

if you have to use a chrome based browser (as certain sites require these days) there are always forks that aren't outright malware, like cromite or ungoogled-chromium, for those specific sites.
But yeah... Brave browser is good at privacy marketing while backstabbing their users in a way familiar to Apple enthusiasts.

I remember I used brave years ago for its "Privacy" but stopped because of the Crypto shit. Had no idea about all the other wild stuff.
Will be sending this post and article to some friends who I know use Brave thank you for sharing this

I've seen trans people use Brave, and I'm like, "do you need Chrome extensions that badly?"

The official uBlock Origin Lite browser extension also works on desktop and mobile Safari. 😁

Any recommendations for a chromium based browser?
(Brave was my go-to when a website didn't support Firefox - try any video chat, hardly works...)

I use Vivaldi, which unfortunately uses Chromium, but it's more like the REAL Opera today than Opera, in design philosophy. It's solidly anti-minimalism, for now. I can make my UI the ugly cluttered mess of my dreams.
Firefox's last straw with me was their tab group "inference engine" pegging my CPU to 100% when I wasn't even using tab groups. Lifelong Mozilla user, turned off in 2024. Not going back. Thank the Mozilla board.

if you need to use a website that gets mad at (in theory/likely intention, anything but chrome, but in practice) any non-chromium based browser (i.e for work/school), ublock lite on ungoogled-chromium is an option
