@pixelunion Difficulty is that we as individuals can only do so much. Still, the majority of the people doesn't see the problem or at least the urgency but when we interact with our governments and companies in almost all instances we have no choice which infrastructure is used. Our payment options are limited (they're working on it but will it be soon enough?).
There are different mobile platforms but given that most apps only work with either android or iOS they are not that viable - politicians could change this but they won't.

I have completely overhauled my tech and digital service infrastructure over the course of a year, but it's 90 rather than 100%. In some cases there's no good alternative (youtube is another one) and in other cases it's not up to us.

It's really quite maddening, let alone a source of some daily stress for everyone paying attention.

Given what Germany can do to their own citizens—that is, declare them unpersons and not allow them access to money, shelter, the ability to work, and also denies the same things to their loved ones and even infant children—I'm not sure that going with European providers is actually preferable.

We need a truly independent set of technology and financial services which will not unperson ANYONE.
