Since July, the northern U.S. has seen a rise in and relatively steady solar activity. This uptick has led to nearly a week of opportunities to witness the natural phenomenon in the U.S., with KP index forecasts reaching up to seven a little over a week ago.
Moreover, NOAA forecasts that
sunspots, the source of
geomagnetic storms capable of triggering the northern lights, are expected to peak in 2025 with 115 spots.
