#^Elon Musk Throws Jabs At NASA Administrator Over Coming Lunar MissionsSpaceX CEO Elon Musk has now resorted to taking direct jabs at NASA Administrator Sean Duffy. The jabs came after NASA announced its openness to using
lunar landers that aren’t manufactured by SpaceX for upcoming missions.
Elon Musk Says Sean Duffy Is Trying To Ruin NASA
On 21 October 2025, X user Robotbeat made
a post calling for someone other than Sean Duffy to take up the role of NASA Administrator. The user claimed that Duffy is out to “kill NASA’s role as an independent agency.”
The person responsible for America’s space program can’t have a 2 digit IQ https://t.co/U4O2GERiTg — Elon Musk (@elonmusk) October 21, 2025
Replying to this post via repost, SpaceX CEO Elon Musk said, “The person responsible for America’s space program can’t have a 2-digit IQ.” This post from Elon Musk sparked varying responses from netizens, with some
taking sides with Elon and others defending Duffy.
Well, Elon wasn’t keen on backing down from his claim that Duffy isn’t capable of running affairs at NASA. Just a day after making the initial post, Elon Musk made a follow-up post to clear the air and reiterate his initial jab at Sean Duffy.
At this point, I am not advocating any particular candidate for NASA Administrator.
I am just desperate for someone with a 3 digit IQ. — Elon Musk (@elonmusk) October 22, 2025
From the post above, Elon says that he isn’t advocating for anyone to take the role of NASA Administrator. However, he says that he is “desperate for someone with a 3-digit IQ” to fill the role.
But what did Duffy do to get such sharp remarks from Elon Musk? While speaking on the coming lunar missions in
an interview with CNBC, Duffy said, “We’re not going to wait for one company.”
In this statement, he refers to the delays
SpaceX Starship has been facing over the past years. He adds that for NASA to win the second space race against China, there is a need to “open up the contract”, allowing other space firms to compete with SpaceX to get America to the Moon.
Elon Musk Is Confident That SpaceX Will Take America To The Moon Again
In response to Duffy’s interview with CNBC, Elon Musk says that other American space firms won’t get to the Moon before SpaceX. He says that in comparison with other American space firms, SpaceX is “moving like lightning.”
They won’t. SpaceX is moving like lightning compared to the rest of the space industry.
Moreover, Starship will end up doing the whole Moon mission. Mark my words. — Elon Musk (@elonmusk) October 20, 2025
Elon concludes his response by saying, “Starship will end up doing the whole mission.” Over the course of the coming years, SpaceX will be in the spotlight as it works towards executing its Artemis II contract.
Other space firms like
Blue Origin will also be working overtime to get ahead of SpaceX. So, the race to the Moon is now not only between the US and China but between major players in the American space industry.
